VOLUNTEER FOR - Riding Lessons
|
Volunteers are the heart of our program. We offer one (1) hour riding lessons during each
eight week session for individuals with special needs. Each rider and horse requires three assistants (one in front and one
on each side). Volunteer training sessions are offered prior to each riding session. Every new volunteer is required
to attend a training session. When you attend training you will learn the layout of the ranch, how to groom and tack our horses,
how to lead for our riders and how to facilitate classes and games. This is a great way to get an understanding of therapeutic
riding, what your roles and responsibilities are and to meet other new volunteers. Your commitment as a volunteer for riding
lessons would be two to four hours per week for eight weeks. Sessions are offered fall, winter and spring and lessons are
typically offered Mondays, Tuesday and Thursday afternoon, as well as Wednesday morning. Volunteers must be at least 14 years
of age to work with our participants. Dress Code for Volunteers: Conservative please. No
spaghetti strap shirts, short shorts or baggy pants. No open toed shoes – wear tennis shoes or hiking boots.
