There is a gift that God has given

I'd like to share with you

Though you might it just discovered

It isn't all that new

It was given long, long ago

On a cool starry night

The gift came into the world

By bright starlight

It was wrapped in swaddling cloths

And laid in a bed of hay

There were lowly shepherds there, and rich rulers, too

Who witnessed its giving day

Years later, the Gift's true meaning

Was clearly expressed

When He was put into use and hung up

For the sake of all of us blessed

This special gift shows us

The great love for us God has

For if He has not sent it,

We would all have died!

This great gift is greater

Than any ever given or recieved

It's meaning is especially dear

To us who have accepted and believed
